May 25, 2018. GDPR is coming!
EU citizens will own their data like never before and any company doing business with an EU citizen will need to be in compliance. Every legacy contract will need to be reviewed and we are adding a compliance add on to our contract analytics product.
Below are some wireframe prototypes I created for proof of concepts. They are web based but I created a short movie.
In our current product, we have a contract “Section” and “Entity” validation. A tabbed visual was requested. One of the key aspects was the summary table where an analyst can get an overall picture of how compliant the contract is.
When viewing notes from our lawyer consultant, I realized the GDPR articles were exceedingly long and often had many entities within one article.
This rough second prototype has a slightly different layout and attempts to unify the entities and sections instead of clicking from tab to tab.
It brings in the idea of grouped concepts and that each concept may need to be validated from different places in the contract.
But before our sales and marketing give us their use case… I need to deliver specs on how dev should start building the interface. I searched and continued to read on GDPR and what a user might need to know (given the limitations of what we can do) and I think third times a charm…

Just yesterday, I started working on the 3rd prototype version. Below is what I have in progress as of today and I think we have a ‘winner winner chicken dinner’.
Though I may still not have adequately represented myself as well as I’d like, I think the pages in this blog show “A Day in the Life” of this UX designer.
